HI    I keep getting this crash after sleep mode. All my software is up to date, Memory passed everthing. Deleted last couple of updates and ran a virus and malware scan, everything passed. How to get rid of this annoying crash every time i go into sleep mode? Thanks

Critical Error Crash After Sleep Mode Fix?

@tomshpf
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Does this happen after waking up sleep mode?

Have you tried creating a new power plan?

While you respond to that, let's try this workaround:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control Panel.
  2. Search for power, and then click Power Options.
  3. Select an option under Choose or customize a power plan.
  4. To customize the selected plan, click Change plan settings, and then select the display and sleep settings when using the battery and when plugged in. (select never options under plugged in and battery) Click here to know more about Managing Power Options

Next, try driver rollback:

  1. Open Device Manager (WIN key + X + M)
  2. Expand the Display Adapters Section.
  3. Right click on the graphics card and select Properties.
  4. On the Driver Tab, choose 'Roll Back Driver'
  5. Restart your PC.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Critical Error Crash After Sleep Mode Fix?

Echo, Thank you for the reply, however i believe the first instructions are for a laptop, i am on a desktop now. also  I tried the second instructions and when I restarted the desktop, the "Sleep Mode Options ALL disappeared, there is now only Shutdown or hibernate or do nothing available, so i guess i have to put the update back on, right?

Any other suggestions Please?

Critical Error Crash After Sleep Mode Fix?

After restarting the desktop looks like safe mode so i am trying to update the driver now, it seems stuck on "downloading driver software"  its been ten minutes and nothing seems to be happening. will wait a while longer. does it usually take this long just to update a display driver?

Critical Error Crash After Sleep Mode Fix?

@tomshpf
I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Let's perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, perform BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Critical Error Crash After Sleep Mode Fix?

Thanks but before anything else, i just thought of something!   I have the windows 10 set up so that i have a choice at startup to click on start with windows 10,  or start with windows safe mode, safe mode with command prompt and safe mode with networking. i have a feeling this is the culprit behind not coming back from sleep mode without a crash, because i noticed every time i set the "change what the power buttons do to "sleep" it changes itself to Hibernate every time. I really think this is what is happening and the only way to get sleep mode to work is to remove the start up options. anyone have any thoughts on this, if this is true no matter what i do i will always get crashed from sleep mode.

Critical Error Crash After Sleep Mode Fix?

@tomshpf
This sounds like a system is stuck in safe mode looping, Firstly, let's exit out from safe mode:

  • To exit Safe Mode, open the System Configuration tool by pressing Windows key + R and typing msconfig then Ok.
  • Next, click the Boot tab, uncheck theSafe boot box, select Apply, and then Ok. The system will restart normally.

Then next check for the power management settings.
Please follow the below steps to resolve your concern:

  • Enabling the Keyboard in Windows
  1. In Windows, search for and open the Device Manager.
  2. Click the arrow next to Keyboards and double-click the name of your keyboard.
  3. If the Power Management tab is available, proceed to the next step.
  4. If the Power Management tab is not available, click the Change Settings button if it appears below the Device status box. The same Keyboard Properties window opens with the Power Management tab available.
  5. If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  6. Click the Power Management tab and make sure that the box next to Allow this device to wake the computer is checked.
  7. Click OK, and then test to make sure that the keyboard can now wake the computer. If the computer still cannot wake from sleep mode, continue using these steps.

For instructions on how to update the BIOS of your computer, see one of the following HP support documents: Updating the BIOS (Notebooks) and Updating the BIOS desktop

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
