Where in the BIOS settings is the ability to disable Fast Boot? I have an HP Pavilion /desktop TP01-2xxx and I'm looking at the Boot Options page. I can enable or disable Secure Boot, but I see nothing about Fast Boot.

Although no one has said this in so many words,my impression now is that the Fast Startup choice is not determined by anything in the BIOS, or at least not anything accessible from the BIOS Setup screens. It can, however, be set from Windows. So where does the setting really reside? Is it accessible, say, from Linux -- and if so, how? Could one write a C program, callable from any OS, that would change it?

unless there is an option which I have never seen
the fast boot is not in the bios, in which case, it would be impossible, in the case presented in the link, to correct this
The fact is that this precisely prevents , in certain cases , from having access to the bios configuration , because the computer starts up too quickly , once changed you can go into the bios more easily !
So here from what I understand, you have no difficulty, to open the bios?

This is very puzzling. How does the disablement actually work? If the information isn't stored in BIOS, where is it kept?
Fast Boot is something I would expect to be completely independent of the operating system, and deeply embedded in the hardware. So how could it be turned on or off in, say, Linux?

Hi
Fast boot limits BIOS testing of: hardware and configuration options when the PC starts up.
My humble thoughts on your question:
I have never seen a fast boot option in HP consumer UEFI PCs. I have seen this option (enable or disable) in retail (Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI) motherboards.
I don't use this as it may cause problems. I would also think HP would not enable this by default. Modern PCs using M.2 NVME drives boot just fine.

Hi once again
under windows

I don't know if such an option exists in linux
I asked at one point if you actually have problems accessing the bios, which did not seem to be the case, but not confirmed
So again if you can open the bios, you have no problem with fast booting.

I've been having some trouble in replying to posts in this conversation. I get a screen with two choices: "Accept as Solution" and "Reply". But if I click on Reply, nothing happens and I have no opportunity to reply.
I'm reliably able to get to the BIOS settings by holding down F10 and pressing the Power button. But Fast Start (or is it Fast Boot?) as set from Windows seemed to imply something more that might be controllable when I power up.

Sorry, I don't know what else to tell you..
as said over and over again if you can get into the bios you don't have that problem with Fast Startup
Now if you are looking for a function that does not exist in your bios, I can't do anything for you!
