When I say it doesn't stay asleep, it's not that it's waking up. PC goes into sleep mode as it should. The power light is blinking, as it should. I return after some time (an hour or so) and I see the power light is on solid. I try to wake the pc with mouse and/or keyboard to no avail. II press the power button(as if to power on the machine); it also does nothing. I have to push and hold the power button for ten or so seconds until the power light goes off. I can then press the power button again and it comes on (Hard restart). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have been told that newer PCs use a hybrid sleep mode that is unreliable. If that be true, I cannot imagine i am the only one that has experienced this problem.
I am not willing to accept that this is the way the sleep mode is and that's it. Please help me find a solution.
Thanks

What you were told is correct -- and you're not the only one running into this -- we get posts like this all the time.
I realized that turning off a PC can make restarting it a lengthy process, sometimes going on into several minutes, but if you only do that once a day, that is actually LESS work than you are doing now -- because NOW, you have to power it down (again) and then power it ON. Disabling hibernation or sleep, you would only have to power it down once.

I did disable the quick start up. Right now, it seems to be responding appropriately. I'll give it time and see if it reverts back to the same problem. I want to see if it reverts back to the same problem after the next Windows update.
In the meantime, I would love for someone form HP to comment on the issue of the unreliability or instability of the hybrid power management.
Most importantly to WAWood, thank you so much for addressing this so quickly for me. Your attention to this problem is greatly appreciated.

Okay, this morning it has seemed to revert back to the same problem. When I examine the system logs, I see something happening about an hour or two after I was on the computer last. Unfortunately, I do not understand what I am seeing in the system logs. I don't know if this is significant or not.
I will report more as I find out more information.
