Hi everyone, I have 5 HP D530's that I just finished refurbishing with new hardware. However, I have one that isn't sending any video signals to the monitor when I power it on. The CPU fan runs and I see the indicator lights on the motherboard. Also, I'm not getting any beeps or flashing lights to indicate what's wrong. I compared it to my other units, which worked after refurbishing, and couldn't find any differences in how I connected them. I've also tried replacing the CMOS BATTERY.

Any idea why this one isn't displaying anything?

Hi:

Did the PC work before you did any work on it?

It could be anything.

Normally it's a defective motherboard when there are no beep codes.

Did you check all of the main capacitors for leaking/bulging?

Bad Rubycon caps in HP D530 SFF Motherboard - Badcaps

That model series was one of those affected by the counterfeit capacitor plague back in the day.

Many years ago, I upgraded 4 d530 CMT's to the max--including removing the IDE hard drives and using the available SATA ports for the DVD drive and SATA drive to get a little more speed out of the drives.

They all ran W7 32 bit just fine.

If you have any AGP graphics cards available, you may want to try one of those.

However, if the onboard Intel graphics was not working, the PC should have presented the 6-beep code error, so it would be a long shot.

Hey Paul, thanks for getting back to me! Yes, it did work before I refurbished it. The capacitors don't appear to be bulging, but there is some white stuff on top of the capacitors, so maybe there was a leak. I'll try  reconnecting the old motherboard and see what happens.

Thanks again!

You're very welcome.

I really enjoyed those old workhorses.

I gave them all away to those who were in need of a decent PC back in day, after I moved on to newer HP business desktop PC's.

Just finished reinstalling the old motherboard, and now the video is working fine. Definitely think the new motherboard is defective somehow. Thanks again!
