Hi DGroves,

I received my replacement 8300 motherboard today, as I've turned into a real early morning person now I'm planning on swapping out the motherboard in the morning. In one of the videos I watched concerning motherboards the man that produced the video was wearing latex gloves, at least for me it makes it really difficult for me to use my fingertips while wearing gloves. Also in the same video the man recommended using 90% rubbing alcohol, since I've already got some 50% on hand that's what I'm planning on using to clean off the old thermal paste. Hopefully this will be time well spent in getting my hp desktop up & running again. Thanks again for your help & time..stay safe & healthy .

DGroves,

Finally some good news to report, after swapping out the original 6300 sff motherboard with the replacement 8300 sff one that you directed me to by including a link to as well as swapping out the power supply my hp compaq pro 6300 sff desktop is now functioning what I consider to be normally again. Of now my desktop is labeled as a hp compaq elite 8300 sff desktop computer. Thinking that my original hard drive might possibly have been defective I had previously formatted it and used a great free hard drive application (DiskGenius) to migrate a copy of a working ms windows o.s. over to that hard drive and found it not to be defective after all. As my desktop is a considerably older model I'm not planning on spending ay huge amounts of additional money on it unless I just absolutely feel like I have to. Thanks once again for all of your time & providing me with the resources I was needing to get my desktop functioning again ! Please Stay Safe & Healthy.
