HP Pavilion Elite HPE

My desktop will not fire up.  At one time I would have to turn off and back on multiple times before it would go in to the Bios.  It would work fine for a while, then all of a sudden the screen would go grey, and nothing.  What happens now is, when I try and start, the fans run, but a black screen, nothing on the monitor at all.  I've tested the power supply and all is good, and the monitor works fine?  Seems after a few Windows 10 updates, it may have corrupted something?  Hoping someone can help with this issue..

Worst case: Mainboard is bricked.

Best case: Just need to re-seat RAM or something.

Start by removing all RAM, add-in cards, unplug HDD's and ODD's.

Then turn the unit on and see if it beeps at you. If it does, then re-install the ram one module at a time and switch on. (assuming you have on-board gfx)

if you're still getting lights/fans but no display, then you could have faulty RAM, processor or Mainboard. Given that it was a slow death, more likely RAM or mainboard.

Let us know the results.
