Hello,
To access my companies network I need to run Ubuntu software from a bootable USB stick. However, within the BIOS of my old HP Pavilion m9275.nl there is no option to boot from a USB device.
The motherboard is a AsusTek Computer / Benicia / 1.01. The current BIOS firmware is American Megatrends v5.43.
1) is it a matter of upgrading my BIOS firmware to a newer version?
2) if so, where can I find a newer version of the BIOS firmware? I couldn't find it so far.
Thanks in advance and kind regards,
SJW

According to the little information I could find, this is a Vista-era PC. Is that correct?
From what I recall, although my memory could be wrong, those PCs did not boot from USB because they all came with floppy disk drives and that is what you booted from using external media.
And no, a BIOS update will not fix this and there is likely not going to be anything for a PC this old.
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor represent, HP

Hello,
My issue seems to be no problem.
Though USB is not visible in the BIOS (boot sequence), the USB stick appears as a device within the Boot Options during the booting process.
I guess the USB stick is being treated as just another hard disk.
Kind regards,
SJW
