Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Pc is frozen in 'Pease wait while we install a system update' for days. Hard reboot, F1, F10, etc. don't do anything. Any ideas? Thanks!!

@Marlene-1 -- try this:

  1. power-off the computer
  2. power-on the computer
  3. as soon as you see the "spinner", hold-down the ON/OFF button until the computer powers-off
  4. repeat #2
  5. Repeat #3
  6. Repeat #2
  7. Repeat #3
  8. Repeat #2, and watch. Does Windows detected the repeated "unsuccessful" consecutive start-up attempts, and open to a "System Repair" screen? If it does, does it offer to run System Restore to time-warp your computer back to a date/time before the update started?

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried powering off and on several times, but it didn't change anything. A message pops up saying 'Preparing auto repair' and then it goes back to 'Please wait while we install a system update'. Grrrr...

still stuck at the same point?
Obviously, the computer was updating, if it was stopped it could have been repaired, but sometimes this worsens the situation.
A problem like this can happen if you have a hardware problem.
do you know which update was in progress?

Since I can't get onto the PC, I can't do any troubleshooting. I tried the link you provided, but it has instructions for using the screen.

When a system update hangs and the system doesn't respond to any input you need to uninstall the update.

This is only possible by a Windows Installation Stick. (Google for Media Creation Tool)
Prepare a USB-stick (8 GB or more) with the option for a different computer. On the 2nd page  (language/Edition/Architecture) choose the option 32 Bit
When you start/boot this USB-Stick from your BIOS you find on the 2nd page of the installation process at the left bottom
the Repairoption. In the troubleshooting options you find the possibility to uninstall the update.

@Marlene-1  If you read all of the above, you should be able to run the tests.
if you can not do anything it is because your problem is much more serious than an update installation blockage
so you have several options
Running System Tests in Windows
you can't, that's ok
but you should be able to do like this
Running HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tests when Windows doesn't start

Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
Turn on the computer and immediately press esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the f2 key.
On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
If you cannot do this, please specify what is happening

Attempt an operation as mentioned (usb key), you have two options
it works, ok nothing to say so much the better for you
Your hard drive is damaged, you may come back to the same point
Just a tip so it's up to you to see, check before doing anything that there is not a hardware problem
