Hey,

Sence I have put my laptop to sleep mode for like 4 days my laptop  wont turn on and just keep blinking shut down key and shift. I looked up and saw that it was a BIOs code but every time I pull the plug out and plug it back in a new code is shown. One of the code was with the memory, so i plug it out and back in but still a different code every time.

I dont know what to do. I tried the BIOS recovery video ( https://youtu.be/qpiGUojtr3E) but still nothing.

Please  is there any way of recoveing it without loseing any data?

Thank you.

In this video, you will see how to restore the BIOS on your HP computer. Many HP computers allow you to recover the last known working version of the BIOS from the hard drive in case of an issue. Follow the simple steps in this video to restore your BIOS with ease. Chapters: 00:00 Introduction ...

Yes. Usually, the disk-drive, with your Personal Files, is intact, meaning that you could remove the disk-drive, connect it as a "secondary" disk-drive in some working computer, and make a copy of all your Personal Files.  Drastic, but feasible.

But, if you hold-down the ON/OFF button for 15 to 30 seconds, does the "blinking" stop, and does the computer completely power-off?  Then, does it restart normally?

It seems to be time for you to take the computer to a qualified computer technician, for professional trouble-shooting.

Hey,

Thank you for reply.

 It will stop and it wont blink again, even if i shut it down or boot it. The only way of seeing it is by takeing the battery out and put it back in and then put the plug back in. I dont know what to do any more. its becomeing soo random.

Im starting to think the hole laptop is broken because the blinking is 1 -6 long blinks and 1-20 short blinks.

Try this:

  1. shutdown the computer
  2. remove the battery
  3. disconnect the external power supply
  4. hold-down the on/off button for 10 seconds, to "drain" any residual power
  5. connect the battery, and try to power-on, assuming that the battery has enough charge.
  6. If it does not power-on, remove the battery, reconnect the power, and try to to power on the computer

Results?

If you really have tried "everything", then it is time to "cannibalize" the computer. Separate it into its components:

* screen (list it on eBay, and hope that somebody will buy it, to replace their cracked screen);

* keyboard (ditto);

* sticks of RAM (ditto);

* CD/DVD/BlueRay device (ditto);

* WiFi network adapter card (ditto);

* computer case (ditto -- maybe, somebody has one with broken hinges, and will want your case);

* disk-drive (containing your Personal Files). Connect the disk-drive to a different computer as a "secondary" disk-drive, and copy all your Personal Files;

Or, find an owner/operator computer store, and trade-in those components, to get a discount on buying a new computer, compatible with Windows 11,  from this store.
