HP Pavilion 590-p0044

I ran the HP Diagnostics just to test my Desktop. Saw that there was a BIOS update to 15.57 so I did it. Now my PC Freezes up at random times and only when it is powered up but nothing running at the time (keep the power on always).

I come back at a later time and my screen is exactly as it was when I left it with the Desktop Icons and even the arrow cursor still showing but the screen is locked and I cant wake it up. The only way to get it started is to power down and back up.

I cant go back to 15.41. In the Device Manager/Firmware I see a Roll Back option for 15.41 so I select it but afterwards I see it's back to 15.57.

How can I fix BIOS 15.57 or go back to 15.41?

Hi

I have suggested a possible fix at the following link. Or you will have to wait for HP to release a BIOS update to fix this.

Check this thread https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/Computer-is-freezing-after-Bios-Update/m-p/861... for other users having the same issue. You have the Sunflower MB SSID 8433 https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05939208

I am confused. Did you get this update from HP Support Assistant or Windows Update?

This link https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-590-p0000a/1939050... has the only BIOS download available for this MB SSID 8433. You may not be able to roll back to this version. Try it!

Let me know how it goes. HP is not providing a BIOS rollback warning at the above BIOS download site.

Based on what you have tried in Device Manager, it looks like HP blocks a BIOS roll back in the firmware. You (maybe using a local PC tech) would have to reprogram the BIOS, if possible, using a BIOS serial programmer.
