@BillCh1011, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Boot Device Not Found" or "No Hard Drive Installed" error on your HP Pavilion typically means the system can't detect your hard drive. Here are the most effective steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:
Reset BIOS to Default Settings
Sometimes BIOS settings can get corrupted or misconfigured.
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
- Press F9 to load default settings.
- Press F10 to save and exit.
Check Boot Order
Ensure the hard drive is set as the primary boot device.
- In BIOS, navigate to the Boot tab.
- Make sure your internal hard drive is listed first.
- Save and exit.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
This checks if the hard drive is physically detected.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then press F2 for diagnostics.
- Run the Hard Drive Test under "Component Tests" or "Symptom Tests".
If the test says no hard drive detected, it could be a hardware issue.
Reseat or Replace the Hard Drive
If you're comfortable opening your laptop:
- Power off and unplug the laptop.
- Open the back panel and carefully disconnect and reconnect the hard drive.
- If still not detected, try testing the drive in another computer or replacing it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
