Elitedesk 800G1 TWR

Hi,

I´m searching for the latest BIOS for my 2 PCs Elitedesk 800G1 TWR with Mainboard 18E4.

Actually they habe the BIOS number L01 v02.65 from 07/13/2015.

Is any newer BIOS available for my PCs?

Thank you very much for any answer.

Hi, @DL5DAA

Below are the info and exe links to the last BIOS update HP released for your PC (v2.78), which is not on the support page for some reason or another.

I see that you cannot re-flash the BIOS to an older version on the support page according to the release notes.

@DL5DAA,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

The most recent BIOS version for your HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Tower is v02.71 (Rev.A) released on May 26th, 2017, and can be found here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-elitedesk-800-g1-tower-pc/5387466.

@Riddle_Decipher,

Not that I am the first person to raise this issue -nor the last, I would like to voice the ongoing concern regarding the way BIOS updates are published and maintained on HP’s support pages.

For example:

  • On the HP Z440 Workstation support page, the latest BIOS version listed is not actually the most recent release. A newer revision is available in the SoftPaq catalog, but it does not appear on the product’s driver/BIOS download page. (Reference: HP Z440 TPM 2.0 Upgrade discussion)

  • Similarly, with the HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Tower, fellow Expert @Paul_Tikkanen just today highlighted that the SoftPaq database contains newer BIOS updates not shown on the official support site. (Reference: Latest BIOS for Elitedesk 800G1 TWR)

This inconsistency creates confusion for customers and IT professionals alike:

  • Users visiting the official support page assume they have the latest BIOS, when in fact they may be missing critical updates.

  • Important fixes (including security updates) are not easily discoverable unless one knows to dig through the SoftPaq catalog.

Suggestion:

HP should ensure that:

  1. The latest BIOS is always mirrored on the product’s support page.

  2. If support pages are no longer actively updated, a notice should clearly state: “The final/latest BIOS version for this platform is available via SoftPaq [SPxxxxx].”

  3. Provide direct links to the SoftPaq Catalog from each product support page, so users can verify the most current release.

These changes would save users a lot of confusion, improve security posture, and demonstrate HP’s ongoing commitment to supporting both legacy and current platforms.

Thank you for considering this feedback.

Sincerely,

@NonSequitur777 Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and highlight the concerns around how BIOS updates are published and maintained on HP’s support pages.

We understand how confusing it can be for both customers and IT professionals when the latest BIOS versions aren’t clearly reflected on the official product support pages. This can lead to situations where users think they have the most recent update but might be missing critical fixes.

Please know that your feedback have been noted. Typically, updates are posted on the official support pages as soon as they are available. For many older or legacy products, the availability of updates depends on ongoing needs and support lifecycle decisions. As a result, some BIOS updates might appear first in the SoftPaq catalogue before they show up or sometimes without appearing on the product’s main driver or BIOS page. Because updates depend on availability and demand, it’s challenging to provide a consistent message about whether product pages will continue to be actively updated.

Your suggestions about clearly linking to the SoftPaq catalogue or indicating where the final BIOS version can be found are very helpful. We will share this feedback with the relevant teams to see how we can make it easier for users to find the most current BIOS updates, meanwhile, if you need any specific softpaq you can reach out to us for the same.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

@Riddle_Decipher,

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide such a thoughtful and detailed reply. I truly appreciate the acknowledgment of the challenges users and Community Experts alike face when BIOS updates are not consistently reflected on the official support pages. Your explanation about the differences in how updates appear between the product driver pages and the SoftPaq catalogue adds useful context.

I am grateful that you and your team are open to feedback and willing to share these suggestions with the relevant groups at HP. Making BIOS update availability clearer -whether through direct links to the SoftPaq catalogue or a notation about the "final" BIOS version -would definitely help both IT professionals and everyday users avoid confusion.

I also appreciate your offer to help with specific SoftPaqs if needed. That kind of support is invaluable to the community.

Thanks again for your responsiveness and for reinforcing HP's commitment to continuous improvement!

Kindest Regards,
