I turned my computer on and it says Microsoft account login, verify your email, but the email I see on the screen, I’ve never heard of before, and it says we’ll send a verification code to another email to verify this is your email address or use your password, but I’ve never seen the email at the top. I don’t know how to get this off or be able to put in my Microsoft account. I don’t know how this happened

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
I understand that you are unable to sign in to your HP computer because it is asking you to verify an unfamiliar email address. To help identify the cause and guide you through the appropriate troubleshooting steps, could you please confirm the following details?
- Did you purchase this HP computer brand-new, or is it used or refurbished?
- Did this message appear when you first set up the computer, or were you using it normally before this happened?
- Have you recently reset Windows, reinstalled Windows, or made any changes to your Microsoft account?
- Can you see an option to go back or sign in with a different account on the screen?
- Are you able to access your Windows desktop, or are you completely blocked at this verification screen?
Seeing an unfamiliar email address on your Windows sign-in screen can happen if a different account was added to the device, or if the primary email alias on the account was changed or compromised.
Here are the key steps to clear this screen and get back into your account:
1. Switch to Your Microsoft Account
- Look on the sign-in screen for an option that says "Select a different account" or "Sign in with another account".
- Selecting this will allow you to enter your actual Microsoft account email address and password rather than verifying the unknown email.
2. If You Don't Remember Your Exact Account Username
- If you are unsure which email is associated with your Microsoft account, you can use Microsoft's username lookup.
- You can also check other Microsoft products or services you use (such as Xbox, Office, or OneDrive) to verify the correct email address linked to your account.
3. If You Suspect Your Account Was Changed or Hacked
- If you believe someone gained access to your account and altered the primary email address, Microsoft provides a Recover a hacked or compromised account workflow.
- You can also run through Microsoft's Sign-in Helper tool, which asks for your email or phone number to detect account issues and guide you through recovery
