Pavilion 500-310T

Hard disk failed so ordered a new Barracuda 7200 RPM 500gb hard disk.

Removed the old disk and replaced the new disk. On turning on the computer, it shows an error message as follows:

BOOT DEVICE NOT FOUND

PLEASE INSTALL AN OPERATING SYSTEM ON YOUR HARD DISK.

HARD DISK - (3F0)

F2 - System Diagnostics

For more information, please visit:

I pressed F2 key and also F10 key but the screen doesn't change. Does that mean the new hard drive is also bad?

Hi,

You will see this error (Boot device not found) if you have not installed an operating system on the new HDD.

Can you see the new HDD in the BIOS?

No I cannot go forward from the page. I tried pressing F2 and also F10 repeatedly on startup but nothing.
