HP TouchSmart 300-1115uk Desktop PC

Machine powers up, fan runs at full speed, black screen no beeps the same as described in post: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/HP-Touch-Smart-300-pc-screen-is-black-and-fan-...

That post is marked as solved but unfortunately all the associated links are now dead.

Hi @BadgerFool

I would think you have a hardware problem that is not detected by the BIOS, no error codes.

This usually suggests a MB/BIOS problem or an external power supply issue.

Can't look at your PC's specs or release for sale date. Don't know the age of your PC.

Thanks Bill but it's not getting to BIOS, I'm going to try another BIOS on it before I pull out the MB and start looking for bad solder joints or components. All the power lines are present and it powers up so not a power supply issue. I was hoping there was some info in the links given in the post I mentioned that could point me in the right direction, but hey ho. I guess I will start with a programmer, escalate to a screwdriver and hope things don't get to hammer time 😜

I managed to get it into what I believe is a BIOS recovery system with a lit up power button and various beeps so there's life in there somewhere I guess, I hope it's not the display.
