Omen 30L
Microsoft Windows 11

I just got an Omen 30L PC and I'm having issues with waking the system up from sleep mode. I have even tried to reboot pushing the power button and nothing happens so i have to unplug the computer and plug it back in in order to get it back on. Does anyone have the answer to why this computer will not allow me to use sleep mode? Everything with software is up to date even with the bios.

DON'T RETURN IT!!!

I got mine at best buy a few days ago and found this in another HP thread:

Follow the instructions in the top comment after clicking this link.  I read somewhere else that you have to wait 24 hours and then a new "HP Firmware" update was available.  That was accurate and today I installed the firmware update and it wakes up from sleep now!  Good luck and I promise this will work.

@JWolf83 -- when the computer is "sleeping", firmly tap the on/off button, to see if that signals the computer to "wake". Holding-down that button for 15 to 30 seconds will force the computer to power-off -- but a little less drastically than plugging the power-cord out of the computer's case.

Hey thanks for the response and advice on that. I actually had HP go into my computer and they did a couple updates that seemed to solve the issue when we tried it. After I ended the convo with them i noticed now the issue is my computer WON'T go to sleep! Any other advice? Thanks!

Dialogue from a very-old Marx Brothers movie:

Patient speaks to doctor: doctor, doctor, it hurts when I move my arm like this.

Doctor Quackinbush to patient: well, don't do that.

In your case, I suspect that they disabled sleep mode, to dodge your issue with sleep-mode.

That is a "bypass", not a "solution", to your issue.

Shame on that Customer Service Representative, for doing it, without explaining the effect of the change.

Sigh.

Got the exact same issue.  HP did send me a new POwer Supply which I successfully replaced, but no difference, still won't wake from an extended sleep.

Very frustrating as other than that it's a great desktop PC.

@craiggiarc -- within "Device Manager", select the keyboard's "properties", and see if there is a "power" setting that states "allow this device to end a sleep" (or something like that). If there is, enable it, and try to tap SHIFT or ENTER on your keyboard, to see if that works.

Those settings were enabled and the issue is still happening unfortunately

I wish I could say the same. I am having the same issue where it will not wake from sleep and even am having issues with the computer not sending the signal to my monitor. Maybe I can try using a HDMI cable instead of display port. I just thought of that.

I got exactly the same problem as the OP. Same as in his case the power button does not react in sleep mode. I can press as long and as firmly as I want, nothing happens, but only in sleep mode. Unplugging seems to be the only solution. I also installed all updates including ultimately all optional ones.

The Other Person's computer no longer enters "sleep mode".

Is your computer also configured to never enter that mode?

You seem to be saying that your computer is entering that mode, and never can be wakened.

So, I'm not sure that you have exactly the same issue.
