I have 2 PCs of identical model. One uses Windows 10 and the other uses Fedora Linux. They both have the same problem. The PCs switch on and after 5 seconds they restart. I would like to reload the BIOS. Any ideas?

Hi! @Max21C,
Were there any recent windows update on the PC?
Do you hear any beep sounds on the PC?
Is the PC getting overheated?
Does the PC restart while you are at the BIOS page?
However, if you are able to boot into BIOS try the steps recommended below.
Try restoring the BIOS to default and check if it helps.
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
Try updating the BIOS and chipset drivers on the PC to the latest version and check if it helps.
You can update the drivers on the PC using HP support assistant. Click Here
Try the steps recommended below.
1. Use Windows shortcut keys Win + PauseBreak to open the System window.
2. Select Advanced system settings from the left column and the System Properties will pop up.
3. Choose Advanced tab and click on the button Settings in the Startup and Recovery section.
4. Disable Automatically restart under System Failure, and then click OK.
Also, try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are working fine.
Refer this article to know more information about running system diagnostics on your PC.
Lastly, if you are unable to perform any steps recommended it is a hardware issue with the PC.
