@paulmy, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a is shutting down unexpectedly after 10–30 minutes of use. Let's go through a few steps to help diagnose and resolve this issue.
Check for Overheating
Overheating is a common cause of random shutdowns.
- Ensure the PC is placed in a well-ventilated area.
- Clean any dust from vents and fans using compressed air.
- Use HP Hardware Diagnostics to check system temperatures:
- Restart your PC and press F2 repeatedly during startup.
- Select System Tests > Thermal Test.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
This tool checks for hardware issues like memory, CPU, or motherboard faults.
- Download and run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows:
Download here - Run System Tests and Component Tests (especially memory and processor).
Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated BIOS or drivers can cause instability.
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads
- Enter your product: TP01-2000a
- Download and install the latest:
- BIOS
- Chipset drivers
- Graphics drivers
Check for Software Conflicts
- Boot into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists.
- If it doesn’t, a background app or driver may be causing the shutdown.
- Consider performing a Clean Boot to isolate the issue:
How to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows
Check Event Viewer Logs
- Press Windows + X → Select Event Viewer
- Go to Windows Logs > System
- Look for Critical or Error entries around the time of shutdown.
Optional: Reset or Reinstall Windows
If all else fails, consider resetting Windows:
- Go to Settings > System > Recovery > Reset this PC
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
