Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I had a short power outage at my home.  Afterwards, my PC will not power on.  There is a green light on under the power cord.  I reset the power strip and everything else is working fine.  I unplugged the PC, held the power button for 5 seconds (read that on line),  Plugged it back in, still nothing.  No noises, no fans, no lights (other than the green light just below the power cord.

Hi,

 

A power surge resulting from the power outage may have damaged: the power supply, the motherboard, or a component connected to the motherboard, or a peripheral connected to the PC.

 

Disconnect all peripherals to see if the PC will start. Fans run and you hear startup sounds. Troubleshooting internal components using known good replacement parts may be difficult given the age of your PC. 

 

I would have a reputable PC technician near you take a look if an internal component has failed. You might be able to buy a used replacement part online at eBay or elsewhere after you isolate the bad component.
