I have a 5-6 year old Windows 10 PC that suddenly shows a black screen. I have just recently installed Windows 10 on a new SSD, and am trying to go back to the HDD to copy the data over, but when I restarted, it doesn’t show anything.
I have tried leaving the PC on for around 2 hours, nothing changes
I disconnected the power cord and quickly turn it back on, nothing changes
I reconnected all the cables and checked if any may be loose, pushed them in, nothing changes
- I tried clearing the CMOS, nothing changes unless I did it wrong
- I tried every SATA port for both the HDD and the SSD, nothing changes
- I held Windows+B and Windows+V for around 5 minutes each, nothing changes
The PC automatically restarts every 20 seconds or so. Every fan is on at max power (I think). The PC SOMETIMES turns on completely, but it seems random and won’t work again after restarting. This has been going on for 2 days now.
I also created a Windows 10 installation tool on a USB, and the PC doesn’t seem to be reading it.
I have a HP Pavilion h8-1360t PC and a XFX Radeon RX 480 graphics card. Any help is appreciated and reply if I need to add extra information. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
What version of Windows 10 did you install on the new SSD?
So the PC will not load Windows using either the original HDD or the new SSD. Is this correct?
It looks like the PC cannot POST.
You can't run HP hardware diagnostics.
I would say you have a power supply, motherboard, or motherboard component problem.
Do a bare bones system startup with only a monitor connected to see if the PC will POST. Disconnect all SATA devices and USB devices (including the USB card reader) from the motherboard.
I usually replace the CR2032 motherboard battery as it is inexpensive, your PC is about eight years old (Link to product specs).

Hi, thank you for replying!
I installed Windows 10 Home, using the Windows Creation Tool from the microsoft website.
I also cannot load even the screen that says “Press ESC for more boot options” right when I turn on the computer.
I disconnected all the devices from USB ports, SATA ports, and removed the USB card reader from the motherboard. The blacks screen still stays and nothing changed.
The thing is, this PC was just running properly, and one time I restart it and it breaks. I hope I won’t need to buy any parts, but if it is required to fix the PC, I’ll buy it.

You're very welcome.
Remaining components to check would be the power supply and the motherboard (MB). It is very unusual for a CPU to fail.
Do see any LED activity on the PC, the motherboard, or can you hear fans or HDD spinning when everything is connected to the MB?
Try a different monitor and check all connections.

I noticed the Graphics Driver lights and fans are running, the light on the power button is on, and fans on the heat sinks are also running. I think all the fans are on, the CD reader is spinning, but I can't tell if the HDD is spinning.
I also connected the PC up to a different monitor, and screen is still dark, nothing changes.
I checked all the ports and pushed down a bit in case they were loose, restarted, and nothing changes.
Thanks for helping .
