Hi,
when I boot up my PC it says “SMART hard drive detects imminent failure” failing drive : SATA 1 failing attribute:#05
I backed up my data, ordered a brand new hard drive and the same message is still there. I also, updated the bios to the current version and still no joy.
I was wondering if someone else has encountered this issue before and if they knew a workaround? Any tips or info will be gratefully aprreciated.

thanks
you confirm that you always have the same type of configuration a single HDD?
Although very rare, usually this type of message will be a failed hard drive, but could have another cause..
the hard drive, is equivalent purchased, new?
try the following:
please perform the hardware tests
everything is explained in this link
HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures | HP® Customer Support
you may have an error code , failure ID (24-digit code) , as shown
if so, just give this code here

The Hard Drive is a Toshiba and brand new and I can confirm its only a one hard drive setup. When I go to run the test it just fails straight away and gives the following code:
0GEJWM-85JBGB-PXPB6J-60B003-
Product ID: T1H69EA#ABU
Thanks,
Jon

Hard Disk 1 SMART Hard Drive Detects Imminent Failure
just in case change that hard drive.
the result shows the same
tell me later, if it's fixed, if still the same problem, then, you will have to try to identify the cause
if possible, try this hard drive, in another computer

Hi,
Thanks for your reply what I mean is I have already changed the hard drive for a brand new one and when I boot the PC up I am still getting the same warning ?? Does anyone know how to disable this message??
thanks,
Jon

There is no point in trying to disable the message, the hp test also confirms a problem
a new disc, may be damaged, this will not be the first time I see this
and if it's not the HDD disk, there may be another risk...

yes, hopefully it's just the HDD
otherwise, we will have to try to find what could cause this, but may be complicated!
