Message on PC appeared to be hijackware. I shut down and am trying to boot to Kaspersky DVD rescue disk.

Followed instructions according to http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03659945

Disabled Secure Boot, shut down, restarted; new boot menu only shows windows boot manager options.

what to do!

Hello @Jackiesdad

Thanks for the update!

When we check the Kaspersky Rescue details (http://hp.care/2jD8wXH) I found that the instructions give are true to the Linux-based environment using the CD.

I could not find any steps given by them to boot on a Windows platform using the CD.

As per http://hp.care/2jD98wt they are asking you to boot from the USB drive. You can try the steps.

Alternatively, to the best of my knowledge, if you can log in to the Windows, I would try booting the disc from the windows. Please try booting from Windows and let me know how that goes!

Thanks! I will watch for your reply 🙂

Hello, @Jackiesdad – Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you for your continued participation with HP support forums! I’d like to be of your assistance 🙂

I understand that you are trying to boot the Kaspersky DVD from the boot menu. I am afraid you can only boot the operating system from this boot menu. Kaspersky is not a bootable DVD.

Kaspersky is a 3rd party software and you need to install or run the DVD after loading the Windows. Hence, come to your desktop screen and then run the DVD and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Hope this answers your questions, and have a nice day!

Good luck 🙂

Ah, but Kaspersky Rescue disc is actually based on a slimmed-down Linux Live CD, with a KDE desktop. their directions are very explicit about booting with their disc.
