Hi @JohCR,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Pavilion All-in-One 27-d0010nd screen goes black repeatedly during startup and then works normally after several flashes. Let’s try a few steps to help stabilize the display.

1. Disconnect external devices

  • Remove all USB devices, printers, external drives, etc.
  • Restart the All-in-One and check if the behavior changes

2. Perform a hard reset

  • Turn the PC off
  • Disconnect the power cable
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds
  • Reconnect the power and turn it back on

3. Update Windows and graphics, drivers

  • Go to:
    • Settings → Windows Update
  • Install all pending updates
  • Also, update the display/graphics driver from HP Support Assistant or Device Manager

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Turn the PC on and tap Esc repeatedly
  • Press F2 for Diagnostics
  • Run:
    • Display test
    • System tests

5. Perform a BIOS restore/recovery
Please follow these steps carefully:

  • Turn the computer OFF
  • Press and hold Windows + B
  • While holding the keys, press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds
  • Release the Power button, but continue holding Windows + B for about 5–10 seconds
  • The BIOS recovery screen may appear, or you may hear beeps
  • Follow the on-screen instructions if prompted

6. Check startup apps

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
  • Open the Startup tab
  • Disable unnecessary startup applications temporarily and restart

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
