I tried to plug my IPhone into one of the USB ports in the back of my computer last night and the computer immediately shut down. This happened a couple of times last year when I tried to plug an external hard drive. I called HP support and they guided me through some steps to correct it. But, I’ve forgotten them and they are unavailable. The computer is an HP Envy 34 all in one desktop. The operating system was recently upgraded from Windows 11 home to 11 Pro.

@Toddjohn8, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Update USB Drivers:
Open Device Manager (right-click Start button > Device Manager).
Find Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Right-click and choose "Update driver" for each one.
Disable Power Saving for USB:
In Device Manager, right-click USB Root Hub (under Universal Serial Bus controllers).
Go to Power Management and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
Try Another USB Port:
If you’re using a back port, try a front one. Some ports might give more power.
Disable Fast Startup:
Press Windows key + R, type powercfg.cpl, and hit Enter.
Click Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Uncheck Turn on fast startup, then save.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
