Hi  @lkhursey

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how it must be to see your system lock up after every update and get stuck on the Windows logo screen.
Could you kindly share the exact HP laptop or desktop model you’re using?

Does the lockup happen after every update, or only certain ones?

Do you see any error codes or messages before the freeze?

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode or HP Recovery Environment after the failed update?

Below are few  steps you can try and confirm :

1.Perform a Hard Reset

This clears temporary states that may block updates.

Power off the system completely

Disconnect charger

Hold the power button for 15 seconds

Reconnect power and restart

2.Boot into Safe Mode

Safe Mode loads minimal drivers and can bypass update conflicts.

Press F11 at startup -Advanced Options -Startup Settings -Safe Mode

If Safe Mode works, uninstall the last update

Restart normally and check if system boots

3.Run HP UEFI Diagnostics

HP’s built-in diagnostics can detect hardware or firmware issues.

Press Esc at startup -F2 for System Diagnostics

Run System Tests (Quick Test)

Run Component Tests for storage and memory

4.Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated BIOS or drivers can cause repeated update failures.

Visit HP Support website https://support.hp.com/  for your model

Download and install latest BIOS and chipset drivers

Ensure Windows Update is paused until BIOS update completes

I hope this helps.
