HP Slimline 270-p033w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought

HP Slimline 270-p033w.

I wanted to clean install windows 10. So  I downloaded windows 10 image and made a bootable USB with it.

I modified and saved the boot order in BIOS setting so that USB gets booted first but it won't go throught usb but go through normal boot.

I toggled on items with name which had "USB" on it, and I think this disabled all the USB ports in the back and the front.

At the moment no USB works during the boot up and even in the windows.

Unfortunately this PC doesn't have the traditional Keyboad and Mouse port...

How can I enable the USB ports???

I took about the battery in the mainboard to reset CMOS setting but I don't think it worked at all.

any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

You're very welcome.

I copied and pasted that info right from your PC's support page.

1. You shut down and unplug the PC

2. With the motherboard oriented in the position of the picture with the white SW_CMOS to the left of the pin block), you remove the jumper and place it one set of pins down.

3. You plug in and turn on the PC, and according to the instructions, the BIOS settings should be now at their defaults, where presumably the USB ports will be working again.

4. You shut down and unplug the PC and move the jumper back to its original position.

You do not need to change any BIOS settings to boot from the usb drive.

Just turn on the PC, tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu and select the USB flash drive boot option and hit the enter key.

Hi:

There is a jumper to move to reset the CMOS...

I assume you move the jumper with the PC powered off and unplugged.

Clear CMOS: Move jumper one spot down (when oriented with SW_CMOS to the left of the pin block) and start the computer.

  note:
Clearing the CMOS also clears the password.

Hi Paul,

 Thanks for the reply.

I took out the battery for couple of minutes not the jumper.

So what you want me to do is

1. move the jumper one spot down to SW_CMOS

2. Start PC

is this it?

Because on the internet people would ask you to move the jumper and leave it for couple of seconds and move it back to it's original spot..

Thanks! 🙂

Thanks Paul for the great support.

Jumper worked like a charm.

Thanks a lot!! 🙂

Here's what you should do.

1. Power off PC

2. Removed RAM (to make space to move the jumpers)

3. Move the jumper one spot down to SW_CMOS

4. Put RAM to it's place

5. Power on.

5-1 It will reboot 2 3 times by itself

6. Hit ESC to boot bo BIOS settings

7. Go in to BIOS setting

8. Click "Set to Default and exit"  <- this is not the correct wording but similar.

9. it will restart and boot windows.

10. turn off PC

and do the first few steps again to put the jumper back into it's original spot.

Thanks Paul 🙂
