HP TouchSmart 310 PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have HP TouchSmart 310-1125f Desktop with Windows 10 Home Edition (originally Windows 7).

When I start the computer it beeps once and displays on the black screen,

Unknown BIOS Error. Error code = 8302

Press <F10> for Setup, <F2> to Continue.

Pressing either <F10> or <F2> continues to boot normally. However since I began to have the error message the screen resolution has gone down and the display is somewhat  distorted. I have updated the BIOS (sp52969.exe) but it did not make any difference. How can I fix the problem?

Probably not.  Such things are "proprietary" to HP.

Your computer: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02622055/

has "integrated" video.

It's possible that a fault with the video circuitry is causing that error-message.

Because it is an "All-In-One", not a tower-style "desktop", the usual recomendation, namely to add-in a graphics card, to supercede the integrated video, is not feasible.

Your only option is to replace the motherboard -- but this is expensive!

Given that your computer is of a vintage where it was originally running Windows 7, my guess is that the HP warranty has expired. Thus, HP won't replace your computer for "free".

Thank you very much for a very useful response. Is it possible to find which chip is damaged and replace just that?

The answer comes from a James Bond 007 movie -- never say never, again.

Possible?  Maybe, in a perfect world.

Your computer: HP TouchSmart 310-1125f Desktop PC Product Specifications

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02702695

has: HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Motherboard Specifications, DA0NZ2MB6A0 (Aronia)

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02558647

with: Integrated graphics using AMD Radeon HD 4270

This looks to be impossible to "disassemble", to replace any parts, except the coin-battery (round object near bottom-center) and the two sticks of RAM (in white sockets at bottom-right).

The "Upgrading and Servicing Guide"

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02525253

does not give a list of HP part-numbers, notably for the motherboard.  Sigh.

The "HP Part-Surfer" web-site:

http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?type=PROD&SearchText=BV551AA

lists:

PC Board
-N/A-
618639-001  Motherboard - Aronia (Shasta-AiO)

Yes, a "not available" status -- you cannot order this part from HP.

The web-page also lists:

Here is the list of HP Products that Part Number  618639-001 is used in.

Your only hope is to scour eBay, to try to find one of the above computers,

where the listing indicates that the motherboard is in working condition.

Thank you again for your detailed information. I suppose I won't be able to get hold of a schematic of the motherboard from somewhere. As you suggest, the only reasonable solution is to replace the motherboard.
