Hello,
I resolved the problem with a temporary solution but it works!
At te moment you see the black screen, press ctrl+alt+delete and you get to the blue screen where you can select "taskmanager".
Once the taskmanager opens, at the processes tab, you have to scroll down to "service host: App Readiness" and select it.
Then right click and select "end task"
You will get to the desktop right away and everything works fine.
Then, go to Windows services (type "services" in the search box) and select the "App readiness" service > select properties> select startup type> select disable! (do not select manual, automatic or automatic delayed because none of them will work)
After that your pc/laptop will boot fine and fast again.
!!!!!! But rememer to activate this service again when you have a Windows update that requires a reboot, otherwise the update wil not install!!!!
This is a temporary fix, so we have to wait what causes it and what Microsoft or HP does to resolve this problem!!
Hope this temporary solution will resolve your problem 😉
Thanks for the fix. It works great.
However, does that mean that one of the apps that are laoded in the startup is causing this delay? if so, finding it would solve the problem.

Hello,
I don't know if it is a specific app that cannot be loaded.
My other pc does not have this problem and except for the HP software/hardware, it has the same apps as the laptop.
I uninstalled all HP software before but still the delayed start.
It is an older problem that started around 2013 on some pc/laptops so nothing new.
Also, right after installing the laptop and before you install the first Windows update, everything works fine!
After disabling the service, i do not know of any apps that do not work, except for Windows updates that require a reboot so you have to enable the service before you do that reboot.

for a just-released (Sept. 16) update that will address your symptoms.
See: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81965.html for "release notes" about this update.

Hello,
In my case, this update doesn't work!
Installed twice but still the slow login so i disabled the "app readiness service" again.
My laptop: hp pavilion power 15-cb040nd
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81965.html
It tries to delete some registry entries but they're not found and then it re enables the "app readiness service" again.

From: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81965.html
the update is applicable to:
HP Pavilion Power 15 Laptop
HP Pavilion Power 580-1xx Desktop
HP Pavilion Power 580-0xx Desktop
I never speak for HP.

Hello,
finally the problem has been solved on my HP Pavilion Power 15-cb040nd
The HP patch did not work for me but a new critical update from Microsoft resolved the problem!
Afterwards i re enabled the "app readiness" service to manual and now the login is as fast as supposed to be.
The article from Microsoft.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4043345
The download link is given in the article but Windows Update should find this update for your pc/laptop.
