How can I get a PDF file with the warranty for my PC?  The 1-year warranty expired earlier this year, but my credit card company will extend it for another year if I can send them a file with the original warranty information.

Thanks for the quick response.  I had found this link https://www.hp.com/us-en/privacy/limited_warranty.html, which described the normal HP Limited Warranty, but it didn't say anything about the 1-year duration.  I had also found the warranty status tool, but I didn't know the trick to save the screenshot as a PDF.  I think I'm ready now to do battle with the credit card company.

One more thing -- I have to ask, was your response produced by one of the AI chatbots?  I've been using ChatGPT to get as far as I did and what you sent me looked a lot like what I was seeing except it had more useful information.

@selev,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

That's a really good question.

So, HP doesn't usually provide a personalized "warranty certificate" PDF for each product, but you can easily obtain the official HP Limited Warranty Statement and proof of your product's warranty coverage, which together should satisfy your credit card company’s requirements.

And Here's How:

Step 1 – Download the official HP Limited Warranty PDF:

HP publishes a general warranty document that applies to all HP consumer PCs (desktops, laptops, and All-in-One models).

You can download it directly from HP's server here: https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00681831.pdf.

That PDF clearly states HP's 1-Year Limited Hardware Warranty and is accepted as the official statement of warranty terms.

Step 2 – Get proof of your product’s warranty dates:

  1. Visit HP's warranty-status tool: https://support.hp.com/us-en/check-warranty.

  2. Enter your PC's serial number (found on the bottom, rear, or in Settings → System → About).

  3. Once the page shows your start and end dates, press Ctrl + P → Save as PDF to download an official record.

This gives you HP's confirmation of your product's original warranty coverage period.

Step 3 – Submit both PDFs to your credit-card company:

Send them:

  • The HP Limited Warranty & Support Guide PDF (from Step 1), and

  • The saved PDF of your PC’s warranty status (from Step 2).

Together, these documents verify both the warranty terms and the dates of coverage, which most credit-card extended-warranty programs require.

Tip: You can include your original HP purchase invoice (if available) to further strengthen your claim.

And there you go: you should be set.

Kind Regards,

@selev,

You are welcome -glad I could assist you with more useful information!

Yes, I do use AI technology, just a few notches above ChatGPT. I also edit these results based on my own experience as a PC tinkerer/whisperer
