HP Pavilion p6710f
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My computer lost the boot disk and I do not have another computer available to make the boot disk myslef from the Windows media creator tool. I do not have a boot disk from when I purchased the computer in 2010.

I get a message that says "...contact your...computer manufacture for...[a] Windows installation disk..." Where on HP, the manufacture, can I get this disk?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Hi, Mike:

HP no longer sells recovery media for that model series.

The only place I know of where you can purchase W7 recovery media for your PC, would be from this non-HP vendor...

Personally, I would try and get access to another Windows PC (neighbor, friend or relative) to make the W10 installation media.

Thanks, Paul.

If I updated to Windows 10, will the Windows 7 recovery disk work?

Why wouldn’t you make your own recovery media from a MS media creator tool?

Hi, Mike:

If you want to reinstall W10, you should use the W10 media creation tool to create W10 installation media to reinstall W10.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

When installing W10, if you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

You don't need to have W7 on there to reinstall W10.

But if you don't want W10, yes the W7 recovery media will format the hard drive and reinstall W7.
