OMEN 30L Desktop - GT13-0380t CTO

The OMEN 30L has a complex set of bios menus, is there a manual that describes what is necessary to boot a USB install?  How/should disable windows 11 TPM? The OMEN 30L works, it's Windows 11 that refuses to allow or complete a boot.

I bought a PC that works, Windows 11 has turned it into a mushy distraction. Never will I buy a Windows machine again.

Hi @Kubic,

I understand your OMEN 30L works but Windows 11 is preventing a USB boot, and you want to install Linux or Windows 10 instead. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and how to allow USB installation.

Access the BIOS and Startup Menu
Shut down the PC completely.
Power it on and repeatedly tap the Esc key until the Startup Menu appears, then press F10 for BIOS Setup.

Enable USB boot support
In BIOS, go to Advanced > Boot Options.
Ensure USB Boot is enabled so the system can detect bootable flash drives.

Disable Secure Boot
In Boot Options, locate Secure Boot and set it to Disabled.
Secure Boot blocks most Linux installers and some Windows 10 installation media.

Enable Legacy Support (if available)
Still under Boot Options, enable Legacy Support if the option is present.
This allows non-UEFI installers to boot correctly.

Save changes and exit BIOS
Press F10, confirm saving changes, and allow the system to restart.
Do not let Windows load yet.

Use the Boot Device Menu
Immediately after restart, tap Esc, then press F9 for Boot Device Options.
Select your USB device from the list and confirm boot.

About TPM and Windows 11
You do not need to disable TPM to install Linux or Windows 10.
TPM is only required by Windows 11; other operating systems will ignore it once Secure Boot is disabled.

Confirm USB creation method
Ensure the USB installer was created correctly using tools like Rufus or balenaEtcher.
For best results, create the USB as GPT + UEFI (non-Secure Boot) or MBR + Legacy, matching the BIOS settings.

If the system still skips the USB
Re-enter BIOS and verify the Boot Order lists USB above the internal drive.
Try a different USB port (rear motherboard ports work best) or a different flash drive.

I hope this helps.
