This isn't a problem as such.

However, in the last couple of days Windows Update has been offering me an optional update:

KB5121767 (26200.8894).

From what I can tell, by doing a search, the only information I can find is it seems to be an issue only affecting Dell PCs.  This is a HP PC obviously though.

In that case, why is this update making itself known to me ?  The last thing I want is to go ahead and install it, and then have it adversely affect things.  I'm not even sure what it's supposed to address exactly.

I know this isn't a Windows forum anyway, but I still want to know what anyone else on here would think.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi @Mrmatt1

This is an optional update; install it if you want to, or skip it if you don't. I installed it, and it improved Windows startup .

If you don't want to install the optional updates, you should configure Windows Update as Microsoft instructs.

July 18, 2026—KB5121767 (OS Builds 26200.8894 and 26100.8894) Out-of-band | Microsoft Support

Note

If you have turned on Get the latest updates as soon as they're available in Windows Update settings (Settings > Windows Update), you will automatically receive this OOB update. If the toggle is off on your device, you can install the update by going to Settings > Windows Update and selecting Download & Install. This OOB update is also available from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Personally, I'm going to ignore the update for now.
