Hi  @syspig,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern that you're encountering a "Secure Boot Violation - Invalid Signature Detected" error and your HP device won't boot, don’t worry let me help you with this.

Could you kindly confirm the below details :

  • The exact HP model number of your device - (Link for steps on how to find the exact model - click here )
  • Did this happen after a BIOS update, Windows update, hardware change, or operating system installation?
  • Are you running the original HP-installed operating system, or have you installed another OS such as Linux?
  • Does the error appear immediately after powering on the device, or only when attempting to boot into Windows?

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :

1. Restore BIOS Default Settings

  • Power on the device and repeatedly tap F10 to enter the BIOS Setup.
  • Press F9 to load BIOS default settings.
  • Select Yes to confirm.
  • Press F10 to save and exit.
  • Restart the computer.

2. Check Secure Boot Settings

If you can access the BIOS:

  • Navigate to Security - Secure Boot Configuration (wording may vary by model).
  • Verify that Secure Boot is enabled.
  • If the issue started after installing another operating system or hardware change, temporarily disabling Secure Boot may help identify the cause.
  • Save changes and restart.

3. Check for External Devices

  • Disconnect all USB devices, docking stations, external drives, SD cards, and printers.
  • Restart the system and check whether the error persists.

4. BIOS Recovery ( If the system became unbootable after a BIOS update: )  (Link for steps - click here )

  • Turn the notebook off.
  • Press and hold Windows + B keys.
  • While holding the keys, press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds, then release the Power button while continuing to hold Windows + B for several seconds.
  • If supported, the HP BIOS Recovery screen may appear.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
