Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

HP Pavilion A6400f with ASUS IPIBL-LB "Benicia" mobo, BIOS Award 5.43. I need to add the option to boot from the USB port (it has four). Using PLOP is not an option. Is there a way to get this old girl to boot from USB?

Unable to do a USB boot. Is that right?

The motherboard on your PC is a Legacy component of which the component doesn’t have any BIOS updates either from HP or ASUS.

You will be unable to do a USB boot from it as there are no patch updates to do so. The only suggestable way to boot is a bootable disc

Hope this helps. Let me know for more.

Happy posting.

I tried starting the box with a boot disc from another OS and had a USB in the port. Guess what? It recocognized the USB. Woo-hoo.

Related but unrelated question. Everything on the box says it's a A6400f. But when I ran a system info app it said the box was a D6400f.  Curiouser and curiouser.

Hi @RealGomer

I thanks for the reply.

I checked and see that the model of your computer is Pavilion A6400f and we do not have any model Pavilion D6400f.

I am not sure why it is showing D6400f in the system info.

Please send me a screen shot of the same so that I can check with the concerned team.

Looking forward to your reply.

Take care. Cheers!
