Our Touchsmart was returned yesterday. It's just in warrenty luckily.

It's had it's hard drive replaced so it's completely wiped but at least it's working again.

I have to say that I was appalled at the lack of information HP gave me regarding the status of the PC when it was returned to them. I was told it would be returned on Tuesday but without informing me didn't return it until a week later.

The automated emails they send back tell you you will get a response within 1 working day. More like 3 days! I have sent a complaint letter to head office.

I have twice been offered a sales agent to call me about extending the warranty but nothings come of that as yet.

A company such as HP should never have communication issues with their customers. It's been a very frustrating, poor experience indeed

I purchased HP Touchsmart for $949 from Best Buy on 2011, all isuues started after 4 months of purchase, and totally shot down after 11 months, called many times to HP customer service, finally they said, i have to send my computer to IN stae to fix it, took, me totally almost 4 wees to be without computer , fonally get it back, they said the Hrd drive was bad and they replaced it, atre 2 weeks same issues and computer is not working , 12 months were over and no more warranty, went to Best Buy, there nobody cares, and blamed me, why i didn;t bue extended warranty when i bought computer, i said, i didn;t know that HP makes so sh.. computers $949 worth only for a year to use. After that i barroved PC  from my neighbor but finally i decided after 1 y , that i want to fix the touchsmart, went tosome  repair company, they said , they think that my pc is heating up, and when the back pannel is not on, its works for a while, paid $60 and left, went to next reapir copany , to get thye opinion and paid $35 for diagnose.today they called and said, my pc doesn't turn off, and they still can;t find what is the issue. Are you kidding me HP, I loose my $949, i spend alreday $95 and don;t know how much more i will spend, and i have had mu HP TOUCHSMRT only working 4 months, and 7 more months on and off, and aftre 11 months it's gone!!!!!!Thank you HP FOR MAKING YOUR computers in CHINA and ramp yur customers, NEVER EVER will purchase some HP product in my life, IM TELLING ALL MY 2900 FRIENDS ON facebook about it, stay away from HP!!!

I also got just the HP logo on my HP touchscreen pavillion desktop (I think 21 or 23 inch screen)- which has happened several times.  I called the HP service/support and they were helpful as far as trying to solve the problem.

I agreed with the HP service call/troubleshooting price and terms (i.e., $75 and refundable if problem is not fixed immediately) and actually opened the back of the pc and did some tinkering.  The HP tech indicated that there was a hard drive needed to be replaced.  Anyway, I got the pc to reboot a couple of days later after turning off (depress and hold for 15 seconds)/turning on the PC and continually hitting t he F11 or F12 keys after turning the pc on.

Subsequent to this, I had a friend of mine take a look at my pc.  He said it was a software problem/probably a virus affecting the BIOS.  He suggested ordering/trying some OS recovery discs from HP.

Too make a long story short..... I hit the Ctrl key, Alt key and "s" key and my pc starts up/reboots.  Yeah !!!!

Good luck- hopefully this will work for you.

Sometimes it comes up and stays there for almost 45 seconds. Other times it doesnt' come up at all. Oddly it flashes the message about entering BiOS so fast you can't even read it.   I had a similar problem with an older HP computer.  Once the machine is booted up its fine.  I flashed the BIOS. No difference. Irritating.  If someone had an unofficial way to get rid of that screen I would glady try it.   Next machine may not be an HP.

There is no unique solution to the HP Invent (blue screen) problem except, in my opinion, a software patch. An HP managerial-level spokesman asserts that the problem is indicative of an imminent hardware failure which HP will happily address, after warranty, for a few hundred dollars -- without a guaranty. Good will and corporate responsibility is nonexistent; steep support fees that feed the "bottom line" are myopically viewed as paramount. The aforesaid manager stated that the plethora of failure reports is insignificant compared to total PC sales.

I have found by experiment that there is an evident conflict between the PC and the monitor which can be avoided if there is a short delay between power-up of each unit thereby mitigating the conflict between respective startup routines. It's inelegant, but it works.

Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard must be in anguish to see their life work deteriorate under ephmeral "beancounting" leadership

If you have ample hard drive space, try this:

Partition your hard drive for the majority size you want for storage - allow 200GB for your C:\ drive and allocate
the rest for the 2nd drive.

Store ALL photos, documents, videos, music on this drive.  Since it's not the system drive, if is less likely
to develop problems, so when you get a problem like this and you restore to C:\, the D:\ drive (or whatever
you called it) will remain untouched.

I've been accessing all photos, documents, videos and music like this for 5 years without a hitch... of course
I also have it backed up on another 1TB USB drive elsewhere.
