Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

pavioion desktop 64 bit

I am new with computer window 10 home

cannot boot from USB and CD with the windows 10 just made repair CD

Others use the computer more than I do... I almost had todeal with figuring out lock screen password

Lucky they made notes - my helper

I have a password reset USB that I bought and cannot use

I made a CD repair CD from windows 10 and cannot use it

I am new computer and afraid to go to places and make things worse!

I was told at GEEKS in Meriden CT that a professional has to change the boot order by remote or take it somewhere

I AM STILL ON WARREN-TEE bought December 2018

I can't do it - I'm lucky to know how to do the updates

I really need helpto fix this - I can't even send an EMAIL in HP site - I went around in constant circles to ask someone to do the remote and change the boot order for me to boot from USB and CD for protection and trouble shoot (i never did these repair options before...

Sincerely... I'd deeply appreciate help with this essential protection

Hi! @ron202,

Thanks for writing to us.

Try the steps recommended below to change the boot order on PC.

Configuring the boot order

Follow the steps below to configure the boot order on most computers.

Turn on or restart the computer.
While the display is blank, press the f10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu.
The BIOS settings menu is accessible by pressing the f2 or the f6 key on some computers.
After opening the BIOS, go to the boot settings.
For notebook PCs: select the Storage tab, and then select Boot Options.
For desktop PCs: select the System Configuration tab, and then select Boot Order.
Follow the on-screen instructions to change the boot order.

Reset the boot order to the default settings

To reset the boot order to the default settings, follow the steps below.

Turn on or restart the computer.
While the display is blank, press the f10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu.
In the BIOS Setup utility, select the File tab.
Select Apply Defaults and Exit.
The BIOS setup utility closes and the computer boots into Windows.

If you still have issues booting from the USB or CD, it could be an issue the image.

So I suggest you try the HP Cloud Recovery Tool to create the windows image.

Thank you for your reply...

And I will look into your suggestion.

Also I remember about my previous HP Slimeline that when I pressed the ESC key I would get a boot option selection.

I tried that ESC key and I got the BIOS What you are suggestion.

I tried the HP home site and had no way to send an email request hoping for a REMOTE opportunity

My problem is that I can't call by phone - I'm on minutes. So chose the internet to communicate with and sacrificed the phone instead... so unfortunately, I was hoping like I did in the past but so many changes have occurred at the HP site I can't communicate only by email...

Though, I created a CD repair from within win 10 I never tried it out to see if perhaps the CD would boot...

It confused me that this safety option is not factory set...

Your suggestion it seems that I will have to consider

Question: how do set the boot 1st choice?   starting from the TOP or that BOTTOM of the list I would be looking at???

I noticed from way back that choice would change - what is the boot 1st choicelocation?

Thank you for this suggestion

The video made it all very easy. I think I will have to get from HP the starting boot position is either on the top as shown in the video or i may have to arrange from the bottom up.

The reason I'm so careful I did it all wrong a longtime ago and have been afraid to go into BIOS again... I set the start up at the bottom like an earlier HP computer indicated. When I should have set the first boot at the top... so I left the computer  as is discontinued my pursuit... I was hoping fora remote fix from HP but I will have to doit myself andhope I don't mess things up.

You gave me the idea to try HP instruction regarding the boot order

It is a prepared instruction sheet as prepared by HP

I will try your approach the only way for me but look up additional information.

You are right its my lack of self-confidence trying to look for short cuts.

with appreciation ror202

conside my answer regarding the conclusion "process still in the works"
