Hi @uwaisk,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding laptops malfunction after BIOS update!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like the BIOS update may have reset some settings, preventing your M.2 NVMe SSD from being detected. Try these steps to fix it:
Check BIOS Settings
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it on and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
- Check if the SSD is detected under Storage / Boot Options.
- If not, go to Advanced → NVMe Configuration (if available) and see if the SSD appears.
- If still not detected, move to the next step.
Change Boot Mode (UEFI vs. Legacy)
- In BIOS, navigate to Boot Options.
- Look for UEFI Boot / Legacy Boot settings.
- Try switching between UEFI and Legacy modes.
- Save and Exit (F10) → Restart and check if SSD is detected.
Reinstall BIOS Firmware (Rollback)
- Go to HP’s official support page:
- Enter your model: 15-da0077tx.
- Download the latest BIOS version (or the previous one if available).
- Create a BIOS recovery USB using HP’s recovery tool.
- Flash the BIOS by restarting and booting from the USB.

Reset BIOS to Default
- Enter BIOS (F10 at startup).
- Look for Restore Defaults / Reset to Factory Defaults.
- Confirm and Save Changes (F10).
- Restart and check if the SSD appears.
Try a Different SSD Slot (If Available)
If your laptop has both SATA and NVMe slots, try connecting the SSD in a different slot.
Update Chipset & Storage Drivers
- Boot into Windows (if possible, using another drive).
- Go to Device Manager → Storage Controllers.
- Update the NVMe driver (Right-click → Update Driver).
- Download and install the Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) drivers from the HP website.
Test with a Bootable OS
If the SSD is still undetected:
- Create a bootable USB using Ubuntu or Windows.
- Boot from the USB and check if the SSD is visible in Disk Manager (Windows) / GParted (Linux).
- If visible in Linux but not in Windows, it’s a driver/BIOS issue.
