Can you boot either of the laptop into the either the BIOS or diagnostics?

An upgrade to the OS will not overwrite the BIOS but it can keep the laptop boot booting up.

Try a hard reset on both laptops

  • Turn on the computer by holding the power button down for 20 full seconds then release.
  • Press the Power button one more time (if necessary) to start the computer

type the ESC key or the F10 key and see if you can get into the BIOS setup.

Are the any beeping noises or blinking LED lights

If the bios is corrupted you need to flash the ROM on the laptop using that .fd file and a 341 programming tool or replace the bios chip.

Still grappling with this problem.  Tried Windows & b keys at switch on.  There is still no bios at all.  hp dm3-sa1111

Win7 upgraded to win10.  As stated earlier it was working 100% a few weeks ago but now just sits there with the keypad led on, power light on and wifi light on (orange).  ssd removed & tested on another hp laptop which boots up into win10 from usb boot.  Surely there is a fix for this?
