your PC is now w10-64bit and in UEFI secure boot mode so that matters most. just this 1 fact,
that is pure Microsoft question and answer.
w10 does not support 1 boot drive 2 OS (in simple direct way see link for full horrors)
best (mostly) is:
HyperV does, on PC and CPU that supports HyperV , I bet yours does not, but no CPU told.(exact model) and bios too must support hyperV many a BIOS has check box just for that enabled or not. (will be grayed out of CPU is wrong one)
there is no boot manager in side HP bios called dual boot so there will be none.
boot w10 and using hypeV have it load the linux image that is the why it is done even 10 OS running, there, 1 at a time using HyperV images each.
if you google this 1miilloin hits and 99% right, you are not the first to ask for sure. (worse is w7+linux upgraded to 10)
learn HyperV , and bingo.
that limit is the UEFI and bios UEFI boot loader it is NOT a dynamic boot loader like GRUB is. see? and is in firmware.
my best guess is this page covers it, (full tastes"direct metal") works only on SOME distributions of Linux.
not simple at all. not now. (now the horror page) most see it and run for the hills, can we blame them , NO!

one newer problem is newer Linux sees the HDD is owned by UEFI windows, and shows the driver missing.
(linux demo ) mode. (so have 2 SSD) one for windows 1 for Linux. a used SSD is like $20 have kits here full of them for testing etc. 128GB plenty for booting. The 8TB hdd long side.
there is a tricky command to bypass the block but I forgot it but is on the forum Ubuntu,v20+

I'm sorry, but HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled.
IF you replace that with a Linux distro, or add a Linux distro, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- including solving any problems with booting the other OS and/or installing the other OS.
Modern PCs with UEFI, instead of the older BIOS, are especially difficult to install because you have to go into the UEFI settings and make several changes before you can even boot from a USB stick -- and we are unable to assist in that work.
You already got some good info from @savvy2 including a very useful video.
So, I am posting this reply to let you know that HP does not provide detailed Linux assistance so for further aid, you need to contact the support forum for the Linux distro you are installing.
Good Luck
