>> Are you saying that with the "old" graphics card, the GT 630, your computer successfully starts, POSTs, and completely loads Windows?

>  -YES

Thanks for the clarification.

my computer runs fine with the Geforce gt630 graphics but won't post with GT710 graphics card

If you are seeing the "splash" screen, then your BIOS has successfully completed the POST (Power On Self Test).

the same problem here:

(( but when I click the URL that you provided, I get "page not found" ))

Check the specifications for the power requirement of the GT 630 video-card, and then for the new video-card.

It is possible that your computer's power-supply is not supplying enough wattage to operate the new video-card.

Instead, see: http://hp.care/2sITZNX

Read the first two comments by erico,

He shows how to disable "slot security", and comments that the PCI-E support on your older motherboard is too old to support a "new-generation" PCI-E graphics-card.

He also recommends purchasing a graphics-card from a different manufacturer.

Can you be more specific?

Which of the steps listed in that other posting by erico were you unable to complete?

> need bios update from HP

I tend to disagree, but without any more details from you, I don't have anything else to add, other than my question, immediately above this sentence.

I tried disabling slot security for my PCI-E x 16 slot and I can't even access BIOS, absolutely no signal on the monitor ever.

Remove that PCI-E graphics adapter.

If the motherboard has "onboard video", connect your monitor to it, reboot, enter BIOS SETUP, and re-enable that "security".

If the motherboard does not have any integrated video, connect a PCI graphics-adapter to a PCI slot, connect your monitor to it, reboot, enter BIOS SETUP, and re-enable that "security" for the PCI-E slot.

Did you indicate that none is available via HP's web-site?

Is none available via HP Support Assistant?

this is bios compatibility issue

Pegatron 2AB6 H67 (Cleveland-GL8)

The Cleveland-GL8 (Internal HP naming scheme), is also known as 2AB6 by Pegatron Corporation, its based around the Intel H67 chipset, on the 1155 socket (Sandy Bridge), this board has a very serious problem when it comes to upgrades, the PCIe slot only outputs 25 watts, not a single watt more and no card of a higher TDP can be installed, no, not even the ones that use PCIe connectors, they will just give you a black bios screeen and the PC will not boot, on that same token, PCIe 3.0 is not supported by the socket (I know it SHOULD be backwards compatible, but it is not, the socket is 2.0 and wont boot with 3.0 cards).
