Recently acquired this PC and cannot get it to power up with one press of ON switch.
It requires an initial ON where the HP logo is shown, no boot up. Press off and then on, PC boots up OK.

Hello @TeckyWalla
(1) Please shutdown your computer
(2) Disconnect Power cable
(3) Open the desktop case and remove the CMOS battery. It's a small CR2032 battery that should have 3V, if not => replace !
(2) Connect Power cable
(4) Start Desktop and enter BIOS to load setup defaults, save and exit
(5) Problem should be solved
best regards

Hello @TeckyWalla
@TeckyWalla wrote:OK so pressing F10 at boot up goes to HP setup
Option of: Apply Defaults and Exit.
Is this the necessary step.?
yes "Apply Defaults and Exit" is correct.

Hello @TeckyWalla
How old is the desktop ?
Did you every changed the PSU (power supply unit) ?
In many cases one or more capacitors in the PSU "are starting" to bloat, but is still working.
This could explain the current problem.
I would recommend you to buy a new power supply.
best regards
