Hi @GusfromFL,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The message you’re seeing indicates an issue with the BIOS update or recovery process. Here are some steps to address the problem.
Power Reset the Laptop
- Turn off the laptop completely.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, docking stations, etc.).
- Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the power adapter (but leave external devices disconnected) and try powering on the laptop.
Perform a BIOS Recovery
HP laptops usually have a built-in recovery mechanism for BIOS issues:
- Turn Off the Laptop: Ensure the device is off.
- Use HP BIOS Recovery:
- Press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
- Release the Power button while continuing to hold the Windows + B keys.
- The laptop should attempt to recover the BIOS. Follow any on-screen instructions.
- If the process works, it will restore or reinstall the BIOS.
Create a BIOS Recovery USB
If the above step fails:
- Use another working computer to download the BIOS recovery file for your laptop from the HP Support website.
- Follow the instructions on the site to create a BIOS recovery USB drive.
- Insert the USB drive into your laptop and follow the Windows + B process again.
Check for Hardware Issues
If the BIOS recovery does not resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem:
- RAM Reset: Reseat the RAM modules (if accessible) by removing and reinserting them.
- CMOS Battery Reset: Disconnect the CMOS battery (requires opening the laptop) for a few minutes and then reconnect it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
