updating a HP Compaq Elite 8300 bios

Hi, on my HP Compaq 8300 i can't find how to disable Secure Boot, no options in the Bios v 02.56 12/10/2012. So can i upgrade the Bios (no upgrade for W10 in the product page but ok for W7 or W8)

Hi:

You shouldn't have to disable secure boot.

If you have an early release model of the 8300 Elite, it may not have a secure boot option if there is no W8 product key in the BIOS.

Thanks for the fast reply. If i don't disable the Secure Boot i can't boot on my Tails (since the 8/13 Windows update) : https://gitlab.tails.boum.org/tails/tails/-/issues/20471

See the service manual at the link below, chapter 3, page 26 for the location of the secure boot setting.

Thanks for the service manual ! But i haven't the secure boot configuration line, the last line is DriveLock Security !

I had originally posted basically the same info you found yesterday.

I'm the one that provided the instructions in both discussions which are the same.

So yes, you can use whichever one of those link instructions to update the BIOS.
