Fingerprint sensor is a purchase OPTION available on some models.
(2)Fingerprint reader (select products only)
Allows a fingerprint logon to Windows, instead of a password logon.▲To use the fingerprint reader, place your finger on the fingerprint reader until it reads your fingerprint.
If your model does not include the fingerprint sensor, the little box is just a "place holder" cover for where the sensor would be installed.
PartSurfer might be able to tell you exactly what is included in your computer.
Set your Country / Region
Use PartSurfer website with your machine's serial number to check what is included.
Reminder: Do not post your serial number on the Community.

Check for the fingerprint sensor in the Device Manager

- Device Manager > View “Devices by type” AND “Show hidden devices”
- Open category Biometric devices
- Look for and Right-Click on the fingerprint reader device > Properties
