Hello- I've been doing pretty graphic intensive things and the more I do them the more I notice the age in the included Radeon RX550 in the desktop. I wanted to upgrade to a GTX1060 Mini, but the problem is the power supply in it is 310W. Is it worth it to get a power supply as well?

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-gaming-690-0000-pc-series/19769765/model/21447498/d... specs of the PSU and etc are all here. by the way, I put it in and it works just fine. Don't know how well overclocking will work, but I have had no issues

I am going to save you frustration. Comparison of the 2 cards.
You need the 400W PSU for that model, L04618-800. The RX550 is 50W, the GTX 1060 is 120W. The RX550 does not require the PCIEx power plug, but the GTX 1060 requires a 6pin PCIEx power plug. BTW<> Please tell me the exact model # of your 310 PSU, and it is does not a 6 or 6+2 PCIEx power plug so that I can add the info to my data sheet. No one will answer that question, as yet. 😕

The GTX 1060 mini is supposed to need a 6 pin PCIE power plug and operates at 120W. Your 310W PSU is not documented to have that power plug. It would also not support the card, according to Nvidia.
