HP Elitedesk 800 G2 mini
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,
i want to buy the HP Elitedesk G2 mini for my proxmox project and i got a small problem. I got a spare i5 6500 (not T) - so it's 65W tdp. The G2 mini that i want to buy, is 35w tdp.
I can use my CPU or i have to buy a new one with T ? thank you

BTW, obviously that i have to use a 90w power supply , but i dont know if the mobo will not be mad at me
thank you

Hi,

i'm here to inform that IT WORKS !!!!

90W power supply

The only problem is > on every boot i got error 901 chassis fan not detected(rear) and i think i can solve that problem by bying that fan.

Only 1 question, can i have an exact part nr. of that fan ? i've found alot on ebay/aliexpress, but i think it's not 100% same fan.

thank you

Hi:

I do not believe that it will work.

This was tried in the 600 G2 DM which uses the same processors as the 800 G2 DM.

Interesting.

Based on that discussion, it should work fine.

i will definitely try my 65W cpu on my 35w G2 and i will reply in this thread

i hope i wont fry the cpu or the motherboard 😄

That would be great.

Based on both discussions, it doesn't appear that anything will fry.

Even on the discussion I gave you, the person tossed in a 65W processor with the 65W power supply, and it didn't work, but no damage was done.
