RE: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/Changing-PSU/m-p/7...
After checking the above referenced link I went to the link suggested by DGroves and ordered it. However it does not work even though the description states "HP Compaq Elite 8200 CMT PSU Main Power 24 Pin to 6 Pin Adapter Cable". Talked with "eric" from the company and when I suggested I was sent the wrong cable he asked for photos. I sent them and side by side with the original. Eric stated I was sent the correct cable and that all of their cables are "mass produced" and they "work for everyone". He was ultimately no help even in the simplest terms such as asking why their wiring was different than the original and how their color related to the originals. .So in reality the cable I was sent is the same cable as would be sent if one ordered "HP Z230 Z220 PSU Main Power 24 Pin to 6 Pin Adapter Cable" , "HP Z240 PSU Main Power 24 Pin to 6 Pin Adapter Cable" and possibly the "HP Elite 8000 8100 8200 8300 800G1 ATX 24 Pin to 6 Pin Adapter Cable"
Anyone have suggestions? I really do not want to wonky set up I have now which is the new PSU running everything and the original PSU running just for the "p2" in order for the PC to power on.

@dweweinc -- [the cable recommended by @DGroves ] does not work
In what way?
Does it not "mesh" with the 24-pin connector on the new power-supply?
Does it not "mesh" with the 6-pin connector on the motherboard?
Does your computer not start-up when you touch the on/off button?
What does not happen?

@itsmyname
Sorry I was not clear. It does not work means it does not power on the computer.
By "mesh" I presume you mean does it fit? yes they all fit fine. The issue is that it, to my eyes, is not wired correctly. The original P2 has 4 wires, this replacement has a "loop" going from Pin 1 to Pin 2 which is claimed to prevent the fan error message, that the next 2 Pins are wired, Pin 5 is empty but 6 has a wire going to it. Eric was unable to explain what this wire is for and it is in the "RSVD" slot.
EDIT: For the sake of clarity the original P2 has 4 wires all going back to the power. This cable only has 3 going to the power, one is what should be an empty slot.

the adapter i linked to DOES WORK (i use on on my 8300 which has the same power pinout as the 8200/8300)
next, the wiring colors do not matter as there is no defined color standard for this HP specific power connector all that matters is that the proper voltages are on the necessary pins
you need to connect "ALL" of the motherboards power connectors correctly this means the 6 pin white connector gets connected to the motherboard the other end to the atx 24 pin connector
and the 6 pin connector that ends in a 3x3 plug goes to the motherboard (this connector has the small module with heat shrink covering)
the 4 pin (brown/black connector orig pwr supply colors) from the motherboard goes to the ATX power supply's aux CPU output which is usually a 8 pin connector that can be split into 2 4x4 plugs (you only use one 4x4 plug for the 8200)
the company person you spoke to is not a engineer and did not design this product, therefore it's not surprising that he has no knowledge about what the reserved pins do or exactly why they are jumpered to prevent the Fan Error

Ok, I want to make sure were are talking about the same cable.
1. Is your mobo an FXN1 e93839?
2. I have tried many times. I assure you that all cables/adapters are correctly installed.The the new power supply works fine sans the adapter we are talking about. In order to use this 8200 currently i have the old power supply with ONLY the P1 and the P2 connected.
3. So we are on the same page - Pin assignment should be: FANcmd, Fan Speed, PS On, Pwr Good, Rsvd, Rsvd
A. Original wiring - looking at "P2" side (L - R): Red/White, White, Green, Grey, Not used (RSVD), not used (RSVD)
B. The cable that I received has: Black loop, Green, Red, not used, Black
In other words for Pin's 1 and 2 there is a loop, presumably to prevent the fan error. Pins 3 and 4 have wires going back to the PSU. Pin 5 is not used (RSVD) but Pin 6 has a black wire in it going back to the power supply.
And to further make sure you have the exact same cable I am posting 2 images on what the original PSU P2 looks like and the cable being discussed here's P2.
Form modDiy but the referances phot IS the one on the PSU. The new one is next to it
With flash on to clearly see the wireing on the adapter

@dweweinc -- See "section 7" of: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02778024
for the "Technical Manual" for your computer. It shows all the pin-out assignments.

Thanks but already know this/have that. The pin assignments I listed are direct form HP's manual. Does not help with any solution to the questions I have asked as my issue/s relate to theModDIY cable that I mention in the OP.
But thanks anyway for trying to be helpful
