550-129nf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, i need to upgrade my computer, but i already did mistakes about "low voltage" things with the RAM, so i'm asking you for advising me about GPU and CPU upgrading before waste my money again.

My Curent config:

PC: HP 550-129nf

Mainboard: 2B47 (IPM17-DD Rev.1.04) with ODE A0.20 (01/18/2018) AMI BIOS

CPU: i5-6400

GPU: GeForce GT 710@1Go vRAM

OS: Windows10 home 64bit v.2004 (19041.546)

RAM: 6Go (4+2) mixed noname low quality memory

According to HP:  https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/product/hp-pavilion-550-100-desktop-pc-series/8499648/model/9137298/doc...

and the game developers system requirement: https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/256565

About GPU:

GTX 1080 isn't on sale on the French web anymore, so i want to buy another one like RTX 2060 or more powerful

About CPU:

Intel Core i7-6700 also isn't ready to buy on the web, but i found some i7-6700k, i know the "k" is only because the CPU is unlocked, but i didn't found any "6700" and the computer datasheet don't mention "6700k".

Does RTX 2060 + i7-6700k okay in my 550-129nf computer ?

or at least any part on the range of the game system requirement can be okay with my computer ?

thank you for any advise.

Hello, thank you for this answer.

I won't be rude but you watched the wrong model, you show me the HP Pavilion 550-129 with the Memphis2-S Motherboard (Socket type: LGA 1150 (Socket-H3)/Haswell)

but my computer is the HP Pavilion 550-129nf with the Odense Motherboard (Socket type: LGA 1151/Skylake)

(i don't know why but the website won't switch to english version, it come back everytime in french)

_my computer: https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/product/hp-pavilion-550-100-desktop-pc-series/8499648/model/9137298/doc...

_it's motherboard: https://support.hp.com/hk-en/product/hp-pavilion-550-100-desktop-pc-series/8499648/document/c0479042...

here is the actual config inside my computer (i'm using it actually):

PC: HP 550-129nf

Mainboard: 2B47 (IPM17-DD Rev.1.04) with ODE A0.20 (01/18/2018) AMI BIOS

CPU: i5-6400

GPU: GeForce GT 710@1Go vRAM

OS: Windows10 home 64bit v.2004 (19041.546)

RAM: 6Go (4+2) mixed noname low quality memory

Everything is up to date and i flashed the latest BIOS version.

The only things i changed is "added the GT710", "added a 2Gb RAM on the second slot" and replaced the HDD by a fast SSD;

all the rest is stock.

so it said i can put an i7-6700 (65 W) inside it, but i want to know if i can fit an i7-6700k (because i didn't found any 6700 on the web; only 6700k).

and about the GPU you did it right, i want to put the highest GPU possible on it without changing the PSU;

but i dont know if an RTX-2060 can fitted well with the actual "180 W uATX Energy Star 6.0" (also because i noticed the GPU Bus is "PCIe x8 2.0").

btw thank you for taken your time to respond.

[EDIT]: i don't know what's going on with this forum (can't add new post bellow and the page refresh when i click on "post" button), and wth with the HP website (can't get another language than french...)

Anyway, because the 6700k is 91w TDP, i made my own choices: i will get an i7-6700 (65w TDP) + an nVidia GT 1030 (36w TDP).

and i will build my next computer by myself, it will be better for everything.

thank y'all for.. reading me lol.

see ya and good luck for the rest.

for those who are not french speaking, here's the english spec link for the system

https://support.hp.com/hk-en/product/HP-Pavilion-550-100-Desktop-PC-series/8499648/document/c0478326...

note that the system (according to the NA spec link) only comes with a 180 watt supply

however the supply is a std ATX size, and the motherboard is also a ATX compatible board so you can upgrade the board to a 550/650 watt supply which will power a 2060 video card

the motherboard only supports CPU's with a 88 watt (or less) rating

with the Intel Core i7-4790 (Haswell) 3.6 GHz Quad Core being the fastest supported cpu

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04648625

regarding the motherboard, if the region where you live does use the odense motherboard use this link

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05355651

all that changes is the cpu TDP wattage 91 watts instead of 88 watts and the fastest HP approved supported cpu is the Intel Core i7-7700 (Kabylake) 3.6 GHz Quad Core

the only difference between "K" and non "K" cpu's is that the "K" suffix cpu's have a unlocked multiplier for motherboards that support overclocking

your not going to be replacing your current video card with anything other than a video card that draws less than 75 watts and does not have/use a AUX GPU power socket on the card if you stay with the current 180 watt supply

the PCI-e bus speed has no effect on if video card, it will work as newer pci-e revisions are backwards compatible

you might want to try using google, as all of your posted questions can be quickly found using it
