Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Howdy. New to community. All my HP products are retired but question is for the Pavilion Elite HPE-257c that I got from a cousin in law who removed the SDD and attached HD as she was moving to a retirement community...but the huge monitor (25 in) is great.

Presume that this motherboard (MB) cannot be upgraded with a new CPU other than replacing MB w/new CPU in order to use Win 11? Probably will stay w/Win10 as Win11 takes some getting use to...

Where is the MB info found as I looked - my glasses could have impeded my vision and definitely did not happy hr too early 8-)

Any recommendations for SSD - 1 or 2 TB

Thank you, Rey

Hi, Rey:

That PC is very old so you will not be able to fit any motherboard in it that would support a processor that can run W11.

It has an IONA-GL8E motherboard which supports the following Intel 1st Gen Core processors:

Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:

Intel Core i7-8xx (Lynnfield core)

Intel Core i5-7xx (Lynnfield core)

Intel Core i5-6xx (Clarkdale core)

Intel Core i3-5xx (Clarkdale core)

It's got great specs for a PC from its time, so if you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2/22H3.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

Howdy. Thanks for quick reply and Win11 info that I will read.

Where was the MB info located?

Thanks again, Rey

You're very welcome, Rey.

HP has retired support for the model PC you have and removed the link to the motherboard specs.

I found old posts where fortunately others had copied and pasted the processor upgrade info from the motherboard link.

When you click on the link, the page is no longer found.

For example:

I did find this specs page from another website:
