Add SSD

Hi!

I have added an SSD (Samsung EVO 500GB)on my computer. Samsung Magician suggest me to switch from IDE to AHCI mode but I cannot find this function to change in the bios. All guides show how to do it in the older bios version. Any ideas?

Hi,

The Samsung Magician is in error as there is no IDE mode for your PC. The OMEN 880-095NZ runs either in AHCI mode or RAID mode.  If your PC is running RAID mode then the Samsung Magician is not going to work properly.

If you wish, boot into the BIOS ---> Storage---Storage Options and verify the settings.

The OMEN 880-095NZ is configured for Intel Optane cache acceleration which requires RAID mode.

Good to know! I've just checked in the BIOS, it says: SATA -> RAID.

In conclusion, does my SSD work properly woth this setting? Do I have to do anything else?

Your Samsung SSD will work satisifactory but if you ever want to do a firmware upgrade then you will need to use other utilities or install the SSD in another PC that is not in RAID mode and use Samsung Magician.
